Getting away from repetitive routine and the same surroundings is something that I personally require on a frequent basis. I admit, it’s not the sole reason, another reason why I feel the need to ‘get away’ is to recharge emotional batteries and to obtain physical distance from negative energy and situations.
Being in a sunny hot climate, with good friends is always a good thing, however, at any given moment and any place we are always with our ‘self’. We carry our positive energy, good vibes, happy memories and dreams. We also carry our stresses, worries, anxiety, injuries and past hurt.
Exercise, healthy eating, vitamin C or Sea is great, it keeps the vitals ticking over. When we bury the negative energy, ignore the emotional hurt and disregard ailments, they soon manifest themselves in other ways. Low energy, sluggish digestive systems, troublesome sleeping habits, short tempers, picking up injuries easily, lowered immunity, bad skin hair and nails, the list is endless.
If we don’t help our bodies to heal in a holistic way, we can still feel low or unable to cope with daily routines without feeling exhausted.
Having a break can break the cycle of negative patterns we often condition ourselves into thinking and carrying out. Seeing how other cultures approach things or view what ‘stress’ is, can also put things into perspective. A stark reminder that we are often more privileged to have many amenities that others take for granted can kick start the humbleness in our-self.
One thing I noticed, the people that have less access to social media, wifi, instant means of fast food etc, seem so much more chilled out, so much more grounded and so much more content with their lives and thankful.
What can we do?
Make a point of making time to put aside the social media and the electronic devices and be humble for what we have in our lives. Remind ourselves that we are in control of our negative and positive emotions and patterns.
Get away to the sea, oceans or even a flowing river. The energy from the natural elements is rejuvenating and reminds of our beginnings and to keep things simple.
